A four-day curated hiking journey through the High Coast World Heritage site, where dramatic landscapes meet local flavours and authentic hospitality.

Program

DAY 1 . . . 4 - 6 km

Arrival in the World Heritage Site

Your journey begins at Härnösand station, where you will be met by your guide. We travel north by chartered bus, crossing the mighty High Coast Bridge where the landscape opens up and the river Ångermanälven meets the sea. After a welcoming lunch at the classic Hotel Höga Kusten, we continue to the small village of Lövvik, where the charming Sjöbodviken bay and the evening sun await.

In the afternoon we set out on our first hike towards Valkallen and Vålshuvudet – where magnificent views and quiet forests set the tone for the days that follow. The evening ends with a well-composed three-course dinner using local ingredients by Tobbe Andersson, the chef who put the High Coast on the gastronomic map during his ten years as head chef at the archipelago hotel Ulvö Hotell. A refreshing dip in the sea and sauna bath ends the first day for those who wish.

DAY 2 . . . . 3 - 8 km

The gem of Nordingrå & views of Skuleberget

After a morning coffee and breakfast, we travel through the mythical Nordingrå, a landscape shaped by ancient bedrock, the sea, and a rich tradition of craftsmanship. We head straight for one of the High Coast’s most photographed and beautiful viewpoints, Stortorget. Lunch is enjoyed at a local favorite, Mjälloms Tunnbröd, before we make our way toward Skuleberget.

We check in at Skuleberget Havscamping with views over the water. In the afternoon, you choose the experience that suits you best: Hike the beautiful trail to the top of Getsvedjeberget for miles of World Heritage views, or reach the summit of Skuleberget, either leaning back in the cable car or via the steeper, more challenging Grottstigen (The Cave Path). For the ultimate adrenaline rush and view, climb the Via Ferrata, scaling the mountain’s 250-metre vertical eastern wall.

The evening winds down with dinner at the charming Veåsand Skärgårdsbistro, a sauna, and maybe a night swim.

DAY 3 . . . . . 5 - 7 km

The Heart of the National Park & The Charm of Ulvön

After breakfast, we head to Skuleskogen National Park, a place that feels primordial, with its deep crevice valleys, enchanting forests, and the scent of pine and sea. The hike leads us through the park’s most iconic landscapes, including the famous Slåttdalsskrevan canyon. For lunch, we enjoy a simple yet high-quality packed meal in the great outdoors.

In the afternoon, a new perspective awaits - that of the sea. From Tärnättholmarna, we are picked up by boat for a further journey out to Ulvön, the pearl of the High Coast, where red boathouses are reflected in the water. Here we check in at the beautiful archipelago hotel Ulvö Hotel, enjoy a dinner of the sea's delicacies, and end the day in a beautiful setting here in the outer archipelago.

DAY 4 . . . 1,8 - 21 km

Vistas, rest and departure

Following a peaceful breakfast at Ulvö Hotell, we embark on a final hike along the Ulvöleden trail a scenic path winding through the island’s landscape of cliffs, woods and sea. A boat then takes us back to the mainland for lunch and a visit to the large Naturkompaniet Outlet.

Together, we reflect on days filled with adventure, flavours, and breathtaking nature before heading to Örnsköldsvik station, carrying with us fresh air, lasting impressions, and unforgettable memories of the High Coast highlights.

Questions & Answers

Hur ansluter man lättast till Höga Kusten Njutvandring?

The fastest and most convenient way to connect to the High Coast Njutvandring is to take one of SJ's three daily departures by high-speed train from Stockholm to Härnösand. The journey up takes about 4 hours and 30 minutes.

The journey home from Örnsköldsvik to Stockholm also takes place most quickly and smoothly with SJ's high-speed train. The trip down takes about 5 hours and 30 minutes.

To save money and be sure to get a seat, book your train ticket in time.

How to book and pay?

Booking and payment are done here on the website during the spring of 2026. We use Sirvoy and Stripe as our booking and payment systems. VISA/Mastercard works.

Upon booking, a first instalment of SEK 4,500 per person is required. This payment is non-refundable in case of cancellation. The full participation fee must be paid approximately three weeks before the Njutvandring. A payment link will be sent to you by email.

Are there any additional costs?

No. But if you want to drink beer/wine with the meal, you pay for it yourself.

If you want snacks or evening treats, you buy them yourself when we stop at the store. If you want to climb the Via Ferrata or take the cable car up to the top of Skuleberget, these activities have an entrance fee which you pay yourself.

Can I extend my stay?

If you wish to arrive in the High Coast the day before, we warmly recommend Hernö Gin Hotel in central Härnösand.

If you want to stay an extra day in the High Coast and the area around Skuleberget, it is possible to remain on the bus after being dropped off at the bus terminal in Örnsköldsvik and continue south again.

At Skuleberget Havscamping you get30% off your extra nights, contact us via info@skulebergethavscamping.se

Can you bring pets?

We like animals, but in this case they are not allowed due to bus and boat transport.

Are bed linens included?

Yes, and also towels.

How challenging is the hiking?

Day 1 in Lövvik, the terrain is probably a bigger challenge than the actual distance. Day 2 in the area around Skuleberget, you can choose the activity yourself depending on the level of challenge you want. Day 3, when we hike through the National Park, there will be both some distance and hilly terrain. Day 4 out on Ulvön is the same. If you are reasonably fit and don’t have knee problems, it will go just fine.

What kind of shoes and any special clothing should one bring?

Stable sneakers/hiking shoes with a slightly thicker sole. Avoid shoes/boots that are too heavy and bulky.

A fleece sweater and rain gear are good to bring, even though we hope we won't need to use them.

Swimwear if you want to swim in the evening or use the sauna.

How far is it between the different activities at Skuleberget?

0.65 km up to the top of Getsvedjeberget, starting from Skuleberget Havscamping where we are staying.

1.3 km to Via Ferrata and Skuleberget/Cave Trail.

3.3km away to the cable car that goes up to the top.

What happens if I get sick during the trip?

Is the Tomas Ledin museum open in Lövvik?

Yes and no. It's actually closed for the season, but since Tomas Ledin is a co-owner of Sjöbodviken and thinks it's fun that we are visiting, it will be opened for us on day one.

Free entry.

Is the guide with us the entire time?

No, but there will always be someone representing Njutvandring nearby. We only have a guide through the National Park.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Special dietary requirements?

Approximately two weeks before arrival, we will send out an email with details and schedules. The email will also include instructions on how to report special dietary requirements and allergies.

Is the hike suitable for children?

No.

Can I join from somewhere other than Härnösand?

Preferably not, we will go through the week's program and other useful information on the bus ride between Härnösand and Hotel Höga Kusten. But if you have special needs, contact us at info@njutvandring.se

Can I travel using my own car?

Yes, absolutely — but it does not affect the price.

Is it possible to get back to Härnösand from Örnsköldsvik on Thursday afternoon?

We don't have anything organized like that, but Länstrafik Bus 50 could be an option for those of you who need to get back. It starts in Örnsköldsvik and goes south along the E4 towards Härnösand.

SJ also operates the Örnsköldsvik - Härnösand route.

About Verkställande Byrån

Our company has been part of the development of the High Coast since 2008. As an event agency, we have organized well over 100 concerts and events in the region. Between 2013 and 2022, we owned and operated the concert venue Naturscen Skuleberget at the foot of Skuleberget, where thousands of memorable experiences were created for our visitors each year.

Since 2017, we have owned and operated two camping facilities – one located by the sea inlet below Skuleberget, and one in Sjöbodviken, at the mouth of the Ångermanälven River in Lövvik.

In 2021, we expanded our operations with the purchase of the taxi boat M/S Asta. It felt like a natural step to offer our guests transportation from our facility to Sweden’s highest island, Mjältön, and to the jewel of the Bothnian Sea, Ulvön. The same year, we also opened our restaurant, Veåsands Skärgårdsbistro.

Even though we currently organize far fewer and smaller events than before, our goal remains the same: to create truly great experiences for our guests. With our Njutvandrings package, we believe we have put together the best combination ever offered—featuring comfortable accommodation, excellent food, and a whole host of “must-see” experiences to enjoy after spending a few days here in the High Coast.

A warm welcome to the High Coast!
